How Pokémon Fusion Works: Names, Types, Stats and Colours

A clear walkthrough of the four steps the Pokemon Fusion Generator uses to turn two Pokémon into one: name splicing, type merging, stat blending and palette transfer.

Diagram of the four Pokémon fusion steps

Every fusion you make with the Pokemon Fusion Generator goes through the same four steps. Once you know them, you can predict what a fusion will look like before you press Fuse, and plan the combinations you want to try.

Head and Body: the two roles

Each fusion has a Head and a Body. The order matters, so Charizard + Gengar is a different Pokémon from Gengar + Charizard.

Role Gives the fusion
Head Colours, the start of the name, the first type, most of HP, Sp. Atk and Sp. Def
Body Artwork shape, the end of the name, the second type, most of Attack, Defense and Speed

Step 1: Name Splicer

The first half of the Head’s name is joined to the second half of the Body’s name. If the join would create a doubled letter, one is dropped so the name reads naturally.

  • Charizard + Gengar → Charigar
  • Gengar + Charizard → Genizard
  • Bulbasaur + Pikachu → Bulbachu

Step 2: Type Merger

The fusion takes the Head’s first type and the Body’s second type. If the Body only has one type, that type is used. When both would be the same, the generator picks the next different type so the fusion stays dual-typed where possible.

Charizard (Fire/Flying) + Gengar (Ghost/Poison) becomes Fire/Poison. Swap them and you get Ghost/Flying.

Step 3: Stat Blender

Each base stat is a weighted average. The leading parent gives two thirds and the other parent gives one third:

  • Head-led: HP, Special Attack, Special Defense
  • Body-led: Attack, Defense, Speed

That is why Snorlax + Gyarados (Snorados) keeps Snorlax’s huge HP (138) while picking up a strong Attack stat (120) from Gyarados.

Step 4: Palette Transfer

This is the visual part. The generator finds the main colours in both artworks and ranks them by how much of the image they cover. Each Body colour is then replaced by the matching Head colour, and brightness is scaled pixel by pixel so the original shading, highlights and outlines stay intact.

The result keeps the Body’s silhouette but wears the Head’s colours, like a shiny variant from another world.
